Tips for buying gifts online

Buy Gifts Online

How to Buy Gifts?

If you are new to buying someone else a gift, particularly if it is someone that you have not known for a long time, then think about the things that you have shared with that person. Even if it is a co-worker, perhaps you know of a favorite coffee or tea that they like. Or maybe they have mentioned a favorite restaurant where they enjoy dining. Think about a place where they can go and enjoy, like a museum, a play, a concert or a sporting event. And if you cannot think of anything, think about a great experience like some time at a spa or a gift card or money card as a way to express the fact that you were thinking of them.

Buying Gifts Online

While there are millions of websites that will allow you to buy gifts online, thinking about the type of gift that you will purchase will make a difference in the site that you will visit before purchasing your online gift. Many people buy at the more well known online retailers like, or even, but there are many unknown sites, if you are buying clothing or other things that would be enjoyed by the person, that are not always listed.

Write down five things that you think the person would enjoy, based on your conversations with them. For a best friend or family member, the comfort level is greater and so knowing what they would like, may be easier. Google the items and ask for discounts in pricing for these items. Use the websites that come up first and browse through to see if you can get any ideas of what the person may like.

If you are buying for a couple, then buying something like a bottle of champagne or wine, that they both can enjoy would be a great idea. Think about things that the two of them can do as a couple. Or if it is for an elderly person or gifts for kids, make sure that the gift is appropriate for the age of the person.

Gift Baskets

The best thing about gift baskets is that they can be custom made to incorporate many of the things that the person receiving the gift basket would like. Gift baskets can be done for a man or a woman. Remember to use more masculine colors like blue and purple and to place the items that the man would enjoy in the gift basket. If he is an avid golfer, then golf balls could be placed in the basket. If he is a writer, then pens and nice pencils would be a great gift along with a small notepad. Also, make sure that the basket is square which deems for a manlier basket.

For the woman, the gift basket can have a scarf, glove and hat set, along with perfumes, lotions and other cosmetic ideas. The basket can also have favorite candies, teas, coffees and other items that will make a great gift basket that will be enjoyed for a long time. And if you really want to get pricier, then placing a small electronic inside the gift basket, like an ipad or kindle, will make them love you forever.

Gift baskets can also be used for that special time of wanting to tell her how much you love her. Placing a ring or a piece of special diamond jewelry inside a box, to be placed inside the gift basket, gives her that extra special surprise when you are trying to say “I love you”, to that very special someone.

Best Online Gifts

Online gifts are as varied and unique as the individual who is receiving the gift. The best online gifts offer a new and exciting experience for the person. They are also something that the individual actually looks forward to receiving. The online gift is similar to the person’s personality and is something that the person has been talking about for awhile. As always money and gift cards can be used if you cannot think of anything else to give. However, the best online gifts are given with obvious thought involved along with that special WOW factor that will leave the receiver of the online gift speechless. When buying online gifts, it may be best to not buy things that require sizing, as you are not sure of the person’s sizing, or if it will fit once it arrives. Things like handbags, scarves, gloves and hats for women are nice ideas and items like candies or electronics for men are great online gift ideas.

Free Gifts

If you do not have a budget for giving someone special, then think about free gifts that can be given. There are numerous websites that offer free gifts, sometimes as samples, that can be given, with a special thought in mind. Or maybe make a special card for that special someone that shows them how you feel. Think more of the quality of the gift and how sentimental it will be for the person receiving it. There are also things that have been given to you, that you may not use, that can be offered to someone else. Make sure that whatever you give, that you would not mind receiving yourself. Do not ever give someone something that you would not want yourself.

American Apparel Designed, Cut and Sewn in Los Angeles

American Apparel

Passion, innovation & ethical practices for the clothing industry. That’s American Apparel. A garment worker in Bangladesh earns an average of $600 a year. An experienced American Apparel garment worker can earn $30,000+ and receive benefits such as comprehensive health care. American Apparel garments are created by motivated and fairly-paid employees who don’t just have jobs – they have careers. Our culture recognizes outstanding performance and promotes from within. Most importantly, our workers have a voice and influence the direction of the company. At American Apparel we call it Sweatshop-Free, a term we coined in 2002.

Unlike Our Competitors, We Make Our Own Product. The American Apparel factory is the largest sewing facility in North America. We believe that integrating our manufacturing, distribution and creative processes keeps our company more efficient than those who rely on offshore or onshore sub-contracting. By leveraging art, design, and technology at our Downtown LA campus, we are able to pay garment workers fairly AND sell garments profitably so we can sustain our business and grow. Everyone benefits – customers, workers, and shareholders alike.
The New Standard That Others Will Follow

There is clearly much more overhead, capital investment and training involved in manufacturing in the USA, as some critics point out. But at American Apparel we passionately leverage art, design and technology to advance our business process and we are confident we’ll prove that vertical integration is a viable business model that can work even better than the status quo model of continuous outsourcing. It’s not just about made in the USA. More importantly, it is about designing a business that does not, at its fundamental core, rely on the relentless pursuit of low cost labor to survive. As wages and transportation costs increase worldwide, we believe our business model of vertical integration to be the path of least resistance. For the record, American Apparel supports free and fair trade, and almost half of the company’s 250 stores are outside the USA, allowing the company to export hundreds of millions of dollars of US-made apparel annually.
Environmental Commitment

American Apparel is also committed to sustainability. We’ve set the precedent for sustainable and ethical manufacturing in California—the state with the strictest and most progressive EPA standards in the country. By concentrating our entire operation within a few square miles, American Apparel has a smaller carbon footprint than our competitors. We recycle almost all our manufacturing waste—an average of 125,000 lbs of textile and 25,000 lbs of paper, plastic and cardboard per week (over 260 semi truck loads per year). As of 2014, we are virtually landfill-free. Our solar panels offset as much as 20% of our electrical usage, and we ship the majority of our goods to our worldwide stores via excess space on passenger flights and busses, minimizing our environmental impact.

Manufacturing in America requires risk taking and long-term investment. We think it’s well worth it. The apparel industry’s reliance on low wages cannot be sustained over time, ethically or fiscally. As labor and transportation costs increase worldwide, exploitation will not only be morally offensive, it will not even be financially viable. For us, American manufacturing is not a trend – we’ve been doing it since the day our company began in Los Angeles fifteen years ago. We are extremely proud of our model, which provides thousands of good jobs both domestically and internationally. American Apparel’s current head count is 6,000 in Los Angeles, with an additional 5,000 working at our stores worldwide.
