When her kids were young, the Peek Kids founder, Tina Canales, could not find kids’ clothing that was not too precious for everyday wear or that was well constructed with quality fabrics. Inspired by this and the way her three daughters live, learn and interact with their peers while drawing from careers of over 30 years in fashion and retail, Canales and two associates started Peek Kids in San Francisco in 2006.
Keeping an eye on the intrinsic, important connection between adults and children – how they interact and learn from one another – provides the intangible quality that distinguishes Peek Kids. This equal respect for childhood and parenthood combines with our appreciation for product design, insistence on thoughtful details, luxurious materials and interesting finishing work to elevate our collections of apparel, accessories, shoes and gifts. The result is Peek Kids’ premium clothing for girls, boys and baby with the same considerations and quality that adults expect in their favorite brands.
Everything Peek Kids do passes through three filters – sophistication, nostalgia and wit. They want each person who walks into of their stores to recognize Peek Kids clothing as something they might wear themselves. “One of the highest compliments we can receive is when an adult customer tells us they wish we made what they are buying for their children in their size,” said Canales.
